Obama Care, Soon Coming to a State Near You!

29 Jun

Obamacare has been passed, and I can’t imagine something better for the population of America. Healthcare costs will virtually change to nothing. Of course, taxes will go up, but nothing astronomically high. Before I go any further, yes, Obama did promise not to tax the middle class anymore, and critics will challenge this greatly, BUT now people won’t have to pay thousands of dollars for a surgery! The prices of healthcare now range from free to affordable. In the picture above, you see the huge differences in healthcare costs, between the United States, and other countries that do have universal healthcare. The prices would only sky-rocket in the future!

The amount of stress Obamacare will take off the populace is great, especially the lower classes, who cannot afford the medication, surgeries and doctor visits they need. Instead of paying $500 dollars to give birth, It will now be something like $90 dollars. Instead of paying $1000 for a cast for your son, will now be something like $200 dollars. I’m from Canada, I know first hand how great universal healthcare is, it will only help things. Once people get over the initial shock of “taxes will be raised” they will realise how great it is.

Let’s Talk Gay.

27 Jun

I was baptised as a Catholic. I grew up in a Christian atmosphere, I went to sunday school, got a bible, and I’ve even read the whole thing. I support same-sex marriage and homosexual couples. This fight isn’t a question of “Does the bible condemn this?” but a fight of morals.
In the Hebrew bible, it says “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.” (Leviticus 18:22) and  “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”(Leviticus 20:13). This has been interpreted to be condemning Homosexual couples, and it certainly does look that way. But in Romans 1:26-27 it says “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another.” This passage is debated to go either way, some say that it is not a blanket condemning homosexuality at all. It is also arguable that Paul’s writings are ostentatious because of his support for slavery and his oppression of women.
I have always found this verse interesting though: Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, arsenokoitēs, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, robbers, none of these will inherit the kingdom of God. And this is what some of you used to be. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) I’ve interpreted this as, you can commit your sins, but if you repent, go to confession etc, you can still go to heaven. Now arsenokoitēs has been loosely interpreted to mean homosexual or sodomites. I believe you can take god in your heart and still love your own sex. Jesus only condemned the “abusive-sex” between same-sex, and has said nothing about homosexuality being wrong if it is in a loving, caring way. Something else comes to mind with this verse aswell, how many “Christians” and “catholics” who keep on fighting homosexuality have committed other sins? Aren’t there scandals all the time with republican politicians sleeping with other women, or mistresses? How can they still preach the bible if they are greedy, and steal, lie, and commit adultery? These things seem to be a lot worse than a simple couple wanting to get married and live their lives together.

This really lies within the person. You can choose to break away from what has been preached, you can choose critical thinking over being told what to think. Read the bible, interpret things for yourself, and even then, if you still believe homosexuality is wrong, at least you found out for yourself. I’m not asking anyone to believe its right and okay, just to find out for yourself. All you can do is try.

Was Turkey spying on Syria?

27 Jun

We all know about Syria shooting down Turkeys reconnaissance plane, but as Turkey threatens Syria, questions are being raised.
Today, Turkey has said if Syrian forces come near their border, military action will be taken. The alliance said Syria’s actions were “unacceptable.”

Outside officials have been trying to defuse the situation by emphasising that many intelligence reports are conflicting. A preliminary analysis says that the Turkish plane was doing more than a routine training exercise. Questions started to roll in, like “Why was Turkey flying an unarmed reconnaissance plane so close to the border?” and “Did the aircraft receive any warnings to leave Syrian airspace?” NATO has sided with Turkey, and agreed the plane being shot down was unnecessary. An official from NATO said when spying happens between countries, all you do is send a warning.
The Turkish plane, a RF-4E Phantom was equipped for spying. The plane had the ability to gather high-resolution images. If that doesn’t scream suspicious, then I don’t know what does. There has been little evidence that supports Turkey’s claims of the plane not being in Syria’s airspace. The plane was shot down by a weapon with only a 2 kilometer range. It seems more like Turkey is using this plane as an excuse to launch an attack on the already crumbling nation, Syria. What possible motives could a country have for shooting down a plane that wasn’t in their airspace? There are no motives. No possible gain from it, so it seems almost impossible for a nation such as Syria to shoot down a plane. One questions rests in my mind, Why does Turkey want a fight?

Neo-Nazi’s in Germany

26 Jun

Germany is being fined $31,000 for what witnesses say was a display of Neo-Nazi symbols by German fans. Witnesses also say these people were acting disorderly (Setting off fireworks, inappropriate banners, symbols and chants). The UEFA is investigating, and has given Germany one day to appeal.

Let’s get this straight: A Neo-Nazi is someone who adopts the ideology of the world war II movements. They borrow elements from the Nazi Doctrine, which include racism, homophobia and holocaust denial. But the fact is that many “Neo-nazi’s” are nothing like the soldiers from WWII. They are violent, convicts, rapists, white supremacists. They talk about killing blacks. Burning jews. Constantly only thinking about how to hurt others.
How do I know this? I’ve been with a Neo-Nazi. His friends. I’ve had the firsthand experience of the behaviour. It’s always been so appalling to me, to hear other people wanting to hurt their own kind. But this is just what humanity has evolved into.

Israel cautious over Egypt’s election results.

26 Jun

The victory of Islamist Mohammed Morsi in Egypt has Israel fearing that peace between the two will die away completely. Although many Israeli officials believe the 33 year old treaty will be preserved with the new election of the Muslim Brotherhood, but many analysts say it can’t be good.
Many Israeli cabinet ministers were silent, for fear of upsetting the fragile ties between themselves and Egypt.
“The situation in Egypt is too unstable to say anything more.” says an Official of Israel.

With the current talk of Israel planning an attack on Iraq, the last thing they could afford to lose is a peace treaty. The current condition of the middle-east is alarming, although it has always had it’s fair share of issues, it’s never been this bad. Without UN intervention, the only ending we will see is gunshots and bloodshed.

The Basics

25 Jun

Here are some things that you should know before doing anything.
I am nothing special, just a teenaged girl trying to make it into Canadian politics.
I am a Liberal, a Christian, a socialist and a tad bit crazy. I would support communism — IF the right people were in office, but I do not forsee this happening for a long time. Yes, I am christian, I believe in God. Many people associate that with being republican, conservative etc. I will not be caught spewing hate against anyone because of my beliefs! Something else I will not do is shove my beliefs down your throat. Although I will fight for what I believe in.
